Couples therapy provided by a qualified psychologist is an effective means of addressing the underlying problems that prevent couples from experiencing the trust, passion and tenderness that characterize fulfilling relationships. Couples therapy is a collaborative process of intentionally transforming relationships by resolving interpersonal conflict, building trust, strengthening emotional bonds, and establishing satisfying relational patterns.
Couples that are in severe crisis, chronic discord, or who just sense that their relationship could use a “tune up” can benefit from couples therapy. Emotional distance, recurrent conflict, betrayal, and infidelity are often the symptoms of deeper issues. Couples therapy is an effective means addressing the underlying cause of these symptoms, recovering from their effects, and rebuilding a healthy and satisfying relationship.

Psychological assessments are a process used to identify the cause of psychological symptoms, to determine the correct diagnosis, and to establish the appropriate course of treatment. In the same way that a physician may use medical tests, such as x-rays or blood tests, to aid in diagnosing a condition, psychologists may use psychological tests as part of a psychological assessment to diagnose a condition or identify what type of treatment or interventions will be most helpful.
Psychological assessments commonly include a clinical interview, a review of records (e.g. medical, educational, legal, etc.) that are relevant to the type of evaluation, direct observation, and collection of collateral information.
Renovaré Counseling currently offers the following types of psychological assessments and testing.

- Psycho-educational Assessments (e.g. learning disability, ADHD, etc.)
Psychological assessments and testing begin with scheduling an initial one-hour interview. Based on that interview, your psychologist will design an assessment procedure to suit your needs, which may include scheduling one or more additional sessions ranging from one to four hours.
A psychiatric assessments involves meeting with a prescriber (i.e. psychiatrist or advanced registered psychiatric nurse practitioner) for approximately one hour, during which time the clinician will interview you about your symptoms and background in order to diagnose your condition and develop at treatment recommendation.
Medication management (i.e. pharmacotherapy) involves treating psychiatric condition with medications in order to resolve the condition or reduce the associated symptoms.
